Travis Appreciation Pop's

Kids Day of Fishing, Inc. was Chartered Oct. 9th, 2007 and Co-Founded by Michael Johns and his father Larry Johns. Larry has since passed - May 4th, 2008.

God bless you Pop's; Larry was a 30-year retired Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, a life time Lions Club member, Kiwanis Club Division 8 Lieutenant Governor and a big community supporter; an inspiration to all of us and he is dearly missed.

Larry is also the father of Lee Johns; Lee was born with Cerebral Palsy and in life became a systems integrator with Sprint in a management position. Mike's oldest brother Lee has been a hero to Mike along with his father Larry;  both of  them helped drive his passion to work with special needs children, knowing that they can succeed to the top.

Michael Johns is the youngest of 3 sons. It was not until Larry was stationed in Fairbanks Alaska that Mike began his love of Fishing; since then, his passion has only grown. Today, Mike is an avid Fisherman and enjoys all aspects of fishing from fly fishing, bait fishing and spin casting.

In addition, Mike makes many Bay and Ocean off shore fishing trips and is also known as Captain Mike.  He enjoys the use of his boats and later in life Mike plans to take special needs children on dream fishing trips by jet boat or drift boat in our Northern California and Oregon rivers and off the coast, all free of charge to the kids and families.

Mike and mother Anni own and operate the family business, Mail Mart Plus which  was started by Larry in 1986.  Mail Mart Plus is where Kids day of Fishing was born. It began as an Idea Mike had and inspiration from his father Larry to help special needs children, along with his passion for fishing and the outdoors.

Since then, Mike's passion has only grown , and so has the organization.

What started off from a $20.00 dollar bill given to Mike by a stranger, and a single event with the Kiwanis Club of Suisun City, turned into a program of 5 events yearly and an annual budget of $20,000 raised from the community and friends.

Mail Mart Plus also has been a huge resource for the promotion and Fund raising efforts of Kids day of Fishing.

Mail Mart Plus Closed January 14th 2016  Mike Johns continues to serve Fairfield as Capt..Mike's Mobile Services as a run off of Mail Mart Plus.
